I am taking my 18 year old daughter to Costa Rica on Christmas. Since Brandon moved the Covid hysteria test from 72 hours to 24 hours and her flight leaves at 5:00 on the 25th, that means she has to be tested on a difficult 5pm (24th ) to noon or so on the 25th . Does anybody know a reasonably priced place in Baton Rouge that will have holiday hours ?

Make sure you aren’t flipping the requirements. I doubt she has to take a test within 24 hours to depart to Costa Rica. She will have to take one to return to the US.

The return to USA 24 hour requirement can be done at the SJ airport and you get results in 15 minutes. Also- I know Costa Rica requires I buy her an insurance policy to cover medical expenses in case she is quarantined. But I think United requires her to have the 24 hour clearance to board the plane. In fact you can not check in until this has been verified. So by definition this is a stressful last- minute thing that has to be done and documented.

Sorry about that. Very surprised United is adding a more stringent requirement than the host country.
Look into approved at home rapid tests that are done virtually in front of a nurse. I’m traveling to the UK and that was an option for me.

FYI the COVID testing rules have never been a strict hour requirement, so if you're returning to the US on the 25th, any time on the 24th will work.
When the rule was 72 hours, the same thing was true. For example a Friday departure to US, any test taken from Tuesday on regardless of time was fine.

We just went through this mess. First, antigen tests are acceptable. We got our certificate in 30 minutes. In the States, I've found CVS to be the most reliable and quickest, but there are gazillions of other options.
Also, it's a calendar day, not a "24 hour window".
