I'm getting married at the beginning of March, next year. We want to do about 2 weeks in Thailand.

With all of the travel discounts going around, I would like to go ahead and start booking to save some money. I don't really know much about Thailand, I don't have a list of things I would like to do necessarily, but we were talking about spending half of our time on the coast, diving. The other half would be spent in the interior, checking out jungles and things... I know she would like to spend some time in one of the cities, not sure which would be the best.

I'm pretty busy right now, working out of the states. I planned on doing research and booking when I got home this summer. But with the discounts being given out right now, I feel like this would be a good time to book.

Should I contact a travel agent?

I literally just did this.

Got married Feb 8th and then went straight to Thailand for 15 days.

Flew in to Bangkok and spent 2 nights there.

Day 1 - Took some Tuk Tuks around the city, hit up some markets. Did a night tour which took use to some temples at night all lit up, took us to some markets and got us all the "popular" street food, saw the flower market, etc.

Day 2 - Took a boat on the river and saw some sites. Went to Wat Arun, Wat Pho, and the Grand Palace which are all easily accessible from the river. The went to the Khao San Road for the evening to check it out.

Then we flew to Chang Mai and spent 4 nights there.

Day 1 - Just took some tuk tuks around the city and did a little eating/shopping.

Day 2 - Did a day at an Elephant Sanctuary

Day 3 - Was a Sunday so we went and saw a few temples and just explored around and then went to the night market which is their biggest market.

Day 4 - Went to a nice Spa and did a couples spa day then went back to the hotel and just did the pool.

Then we flew down the the Islands. We flew in to Phuket and stayed there 1 night. Went over and checked out Patong Beach for a few hours and then just went back to the resort and relaxed in the pool.

The next day we took the ferry over to Phi Phi. Stayed in a secluded beach resort only accessible by boat. Spent 2 nights here and just lounged around the resort, did the pool, nice dinners at the resort, did another massage, etc.

Then we took the ferry over to Krabi and ended the trip there. We stayed at a 5* spot there on Railay beach called the Rayavedee which I highly recommend. Each room is its own separate 2 story bungalow in the jungle, we did one with our own private pool.

Railey is only accessible by boat as well. It has a cool street down the center of it that has a bunch of shops, resturants, bars, etc so you can get the 5* treatment at the resort but also has other things to offer. Spent one night on this street just bar hopping and then went to a Mui Thai fight. One day We rented a speed boat for just me and the new Mrs. and just went Island hopping. We went to Hong Island, Maya Bay, a bunch of the Phi Phi islands, etc. They provided all of the food/drinks other than beer but they let me bring on my own beers and put in their cooler. If you happen to go to Krabi and stay at the Rayavadee they have a restaurant in a cave called the Grotto which was pretty awesome.

There's an extremely poorly formatted and definitely shortened run down, I'm leaving out a bunch of stuff but let me know if you have any questions.
