Agreed, did a bus day trip from our resort in Cancun, 3 or so hours at ruins, loaded back up and ate at a tourist trap mexican buffet/trinket mall and stopped and swam for about 90min. at one of the very cool Cenote's which are surprisingly the only sources of fresh water in the region.

Tulum ruins is worth a trip. While you're there, go hit Akumal too to swim with sea turtles.
