Has anyone else noticed higher ticket prices this year?

I take a trip to Canada a few times a year. The prices seem to be a lot higher this year. I booked a flight about 2 weeks out last year and paid less than $400.. this year everything seems to be at least $100 to $200 more, if not more than that. Has anyone heard why that might be?

Prices are still pretty low (historically speaking). Low cost carrier pressure and lower fuel prices have enabled carriers to loosen the reigns on seat capacity.
As a result fares are down (and unit revenues much to the chagrin of investors). I would expect that as fuel begins to creep back up, fares will follow.
Gone are the days of airline market share battles, by and large these carriers are intent on achieving ROIC and margin goals. They will adjust capacity accordingly.

We go to Cabo every June and we wait until mid-March to buy our tickets and they are ~300, as opposed to ~650 right now.
My point being is that timing, at least in my experience, for some reason plays a big role in the price.

Quite the contrary. Airfare is cheaper than ever. Need to time it right. Use google flights for alerts.

This.
I was looking at roundtrip to London. Started off around $1800 in June. Changed to May and they were around $1200. Tracked the prices and ended up getting round trip for $713 total. $215 of which was taxes and fees.
