Georgetown Loop Railroad in Colorado

I am looking at taking my kids to ride the train at Georgetown Loop Railroad in October. I’ve been wanting to do this while they are still young and love trains. Has anyone here been on this train ride? Is it a good experience for kids? Where should we stay within an hour drive that has outdoor things to do that kids would like? We don’t want to stay in Denver but we will fly in to there and go to the museum there day 1 before we head out towards Georgetown. Kids will be 8,6 and 4.
Thank you
Thank you

It’s a short ride, but the kids will love it. Georgetown has a few shops and it’s cool to stand on their Main Street and look up at the mountain that it’s at the base of.

Looks like a scaled down version of the Durango Silverton railroad.

I wanted to do the Durango/silverton train ride but we don’t have enough time. It’s to far of a drive from Denver.
