I want to go to Havana in the next month or two with my wife. Anyone have recommendations for lodging and activities? Can I simply purchase a visa or do I have to do activities that satisfy my reasoning for being there?

You just have to purchase the visa. No one actually checks up on what you did.
Look into their version of Airbnb. I can’t remember the name of it but a simple google search should yield results. The place we stayed was great. Centrally located and every morning the owners came up and made us an amazing breakfast and we sat out on the balcony and ate.
Havana is amazing. Enjoy.
Oh, and in before namvet comes in here bitching about supporting communism.
