Heading to Cabo in a few weeks and the travel companion is freaking out about how to get a test to return home. Anyone have any experience?

You can tested at the airport right before you leave or probably your hotel It's not a big deal. Rapid tests and cheap. I've been down 3 times since covid started.

I went a few weeks ago. The Visit Cabo website has a list of places that you can take COVID tests. We rented a car and stopped off Hwy. 1 at a place called "Healthy Cabo". We were in and out in 20 minutes and they emailed me the results. It was $60 US. Super easy.
If you are staying at a hotel, they can line up tests for you. I have seen them closer to the $40 range when I was looking.
You have to test within 72 hours of your return flight. So I would definitely take your test on the earliest day possible to limit the chances of exposure.
Worst case scenario, you can always fly to Tijuana and drive across the border

We just got home from Cabo today. Took the covid test at our resort....Playa Grande. Cost was $23. To be honest with you not one time were we asked to prove our tests results on the trip home...airport, customs, security, etc. Now you have to complete an app covid survey at the airports several times. I thought it was very odd they didn't asked for our actual tests results. We had a copy ready to show. Maybe us testing negative had something to do with it? But, im not sure how the the resort would notify the authorities of a pos test to keep us from flying home. That being said....getting tested was a breeze.

Not sure about Cabo but nobody gives a fiddlers frick about Covid here in Cancun
My driver to the resort said I can take my mask off in the drive to the resort, that it was all cool.
And since they know the US tourists are the ones who are buttering their bread, most of the resorts do on-site testing. Reminds me, I need to go and do my test tomorrow .
