We like no frills types of places.
Philippines is incredible
Like I said, getting there is the bulk
90 minute massages for like $20
Even incredibly nice hotels (infinity pools, on site dining, fitness centers) have rates under $60/night
People speak english just about everywhere
Beach, jungle, relax or thrills, etc.
EVA air is our preference to get over there and they leave from Houston so you can either drive or fly over to Houston then it will go from IAH through Tapei and we fly into Cebu and you can be on the beach in less than 20 minutes after landing.
Don't rent a car though....those people cannot drive. Take taxi's or pre-book transports through a hotel or resort. Getting form places like Cebu to Islands like Bantayan or Bohol you can take ferries. Other places like Boracay you will want to book a flight but it's usually like $100 round trip per person.
Boracay sunsets are undefeated
Oslob
Cebu
More from Bantayan
Fresh ceviche (cost was under $1)
this was our actual room
street tacos in Pi
And let me tell you about the pearls. Each trip we go we can purchase over $1000 worth of pearls that we bring home and we come out of pocket about $200...it's that crazy. It makes perfect christmas and birthday gifts throughout the year (necklaces, bracelets, earrings). I don't know shite about jewelry but my wife does and picks up $100 pearl earrings for $20ish on each trip and we just stock them in our safe for gifts.
