Cheap fare DFW area to Puerto Vallarta

We are planning a trip late June - early July to stay at the Vidante Grand Luxxe Nuevo Vallarta. We're owners and Vidante is top notch all the way.

The round trip, one-way airfare out of DFW is currently $830 on American, but if we drive over to Tyler (a 2 hour drive) and fly from there, the round trip is $395. There is an overnight layover in DFW (we live 10 minutes from the airport), then the flight the next day is the exact same flight(s) there and back that are $830 each if we were flying out of DFW Airport to begin with. Not sure why, but not going to complain about it. On the return flight, that also has an overnight layover, and we have to go through customs, so our luggage comes out in DFW, anyway, and we'll just Uber back home.

Next day, my wife will take me to DFW Airport and I'll take the flight alone out of DFW to Tyler, get my car and drive over to Louisiana to check on my parents.

There are six of us traveling together, and parking at Tyler is only $6 a day. After paying for gas and parking, we'll save $2550.00 on airfare for having made the 2-hour drive over to Tyler.

Just wanted to let the board know so anyone in North Texas considering a trip to Puerto Vallarta this summer can check out the Tyler thing as an option.
