My step-brother in-law lived in Charleston for a couple of years and gave me this list of his favorites (we are going in September for the first time):
To eat:
***Lewis BBQ (love this place)
***Halls Chophouse (need reservations)
Magnolias (southern staple... also get reservations)
***Paige's Okra Grill (Across the harbor in Mt. Pleasant)
Callie’s hot little biscuit
Rutledge Cab Company (Bill Murray owns this spot... Breakfast all day
or burgers!)
Poe's Tavern - (Sullivans Island)
Hominy Grill (where grits are good for you)
Husk (fancy) / but the burgers at the bar are nationally acclaimed
Indaco (pizza & Italian)
Fulton five - bomb italian
The wreck - dive seafood joint. It’s cool
Hanks Seafood - upscale seafood
Fleet Landing - solid seafood, cool view of the harbor
Eli's Table (great brunch)
Poogan's Porch (great brunch)
Carolina Ale House (casual food In a great spot)
***Swig & Swine bbq
***Saltwater Cowboy’s on Shem Creek
Rodney Scott’s bbq (ribs are soo good)
To drink:
Firefly distillery (more of a half day trip)
Market Pavilion Hotel rooftop
***the rarebit (Moscow mules all night, they make them on tap)
Palmetto brewery
The Belmont - classic cocktails
Republic (more of a club.. partyyyyy)
Vendue rooftop
Star's rooftop
Anywhere or King or East Bay... You can't go wrong. It's a tourist town
Shem Creek in Mt. Pleasant. Reds is fun but the food is nothing special
For views:
Grand bohemian hotel rooftop
Market Pavilion Hotel rooftop
Vendue rooftop
3rd floor Star's (food is good too)
Shem Creek in Mt. Pleasant (restaurants galore)
To see:
Angel Oak Tree (could hit this with the firefly distillery)
Boone Hall Plantation (most popular spot.. Where a lot of the notebook
was filmed)
Carriage tours are awesome, worth every penny
Sullivans island or Isle of Palms for the beach
All kinds of museums downtown
Rainbow Row
The Battery Park
King street for shopping
Riverfront Park / Pineapple Fountain is a legit photo op
Ft. Sumter (boring for real but ppl love it)
Pitt Steet Bridge Park in Mt. Pleasant
Middleton place plantation.

Rodney Scott's is a must. The original in Hemingway is the GOAT.

If you are going during the Summer, check out Home Team BBQ on Sullivan’s Island. Loaded with babes who are drunk and fresh off the beach.
Charleston is an awesome bachelor party place though, so you will find tons to do. Tons of good breweries. Revelry on the upper peninsula is my favorite and has the best view.
Can’t go wrong with anywhere in Shem Creek either. People will dock their boats and its always a party. Reds, Shelter, Vickery’s... all fun.
Enjoy!
