3rd trip to Anna Maria. Besides a little mini-golf, we’ve only done beach stuff.
Looking for recs for off beach fun for HS grads and parents. We have a charter lined up and hope to get on some fish.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I highly recommend cPonies. I also recommend St. Armands Key. While it is a bit of a drive, it has great shopping, and great food. Highly recommend Blu Couzina, a Greek place. If you want to get a second non-private charter which is not as expensive, try Cortez Deep Sea Fishing. Finally, look up a Facebook group called Anna Maria Island Life and browse through their posts. You will find a lot of useful information.

A.M. is very laid back. No chains on the island. All buildings except 1 are 3 stories or less. Free shuttle that runs length of island makes it easy to get around or you can catch the Monkey Bus which provides rides for driver tips. It’s Old Florida compared to most other areas.
There are some decent restaurants on the island and just off in Cortez or Bradenton.
This is my 3rd trip, I believe, to the area. My brother is much more of an authority as he’s vacationed there for years.
Marbella is a nice place to stay. Try bestbeachgetaways.com for places to stay.

How strict are they on alcohol on the beaches? I’m looking at AMI this summer and I’m used to Destin where I’m dragging a cooler of beer for the day. We are a multi generation family group so not partying but we like to have a good time.

As long as its a private beach you are good. County and state beaches don't allow alcohol.

We are looking at houses that are a couple blocks from the beach on the north end. Should I assume everything is public unless I’m staying on the beach? Are police searching coolers or if I have it in a yeti I’m ok?
