Great review, I need to work on ours from Maine. Already starting to plan next years late summer trip and planning on Alaska at this point, can't wait.

Thanks all, honestly can't recommend it enough even if it's for a quick weekend

The entire Island is worth exploring, some of the bays and fjords on the East side and South end are amazing. Trails up the two main mountains behind downtown are really cool to. If you go North, out towards Starrigavan, there's a lot of trails that direction too.

So the fishing trip we went south out of the main harbor area and got some cool looks on that end of the island. Saw where the FAA station/radar is located, was wondering how they got 3 cranes out that way.

Raptor center trail goes along Indian Creek and is a nice little walk, but bears are pretty think. A guy got mauled in Sitka last week.

While eating at Bayview, heard the couple next to me at the bar talk about how they walked along Indian Creek and ran into a bear. Had to yell for a few minutes until it ran off. I had no idea about the guy getting mauled (just read that article) but glad I played it safe and didn't do any intense hiking on my own without bear spray or a gun.

Went there to watch football and eat several times myself.. Watched the LSU/UNT game there when Zach Mettenberger first started for LSU. Nice little place overlooking Crescent Harbor.
