I have been twice, both on Holland America, both times in May. I like the ones that start in Vancouver and head north to Seward. The scenery gets more and more spectacular the farther north you go. You have more stops in Alaska on this cruise than on the ones starting in Seattle. Favorite ports - Skagway (White Pass RR excursion), Juneau (whale watching and Mendenhall Glacier), Glacier Bay, Hubbard Glacier and College Fiord for the scenery (not ports). Go as soon as school is over.

All depends on what you want to do, how much you want to spend and what your priorities are.

If you have the $$, do a small ship cruise. Less ports of call, more time in the wilderness.
