Airport Travel Question

I'll be flying from Birmingham, AL to London Heathrow round trip. However, when the wife and I land at Heathrow we will be changing flights to go to another destination. The round trip was booked through Delta as just BHM - LHR. We will not be checking bags. The question I have is will I need to go through customs when I land at LHR and then go back through security to board our additional flight to another destination?

Yes. You always have to clear security at Heathrow from my experience. Don't remembewr if it was customs but we definitely had to go through a security line and have our bags scanned.

Yes, you have to clear customs at Heathrow and then clear security again, you have to clear security even when staying in Terminal 5(international). Anything less than 3 hours is probably cutting it close unless things have gotten significantly better at LHR.

Okay, thanks both, great info. We'll look at later flights. Thanks!

I have made a connection in LHR before and don’t recall. But recently connected via Dubai without any extra rigamarole.
These things are never consistent — there are some generally good specifics you can find on various websites via google. Just do “connecting in Heathrow from US” or something similar and you’ll probably find some good info.
