Our university had one of the only T1 lines in the state at the time and it was unfortunately proxied so I could only access FTP sites that used port 80 at the time. Significantly reduced my access but I found enough Phish albums to sell them for my ignorant roommate for 15 bucks a pop.

It was almost exclusively useful for popular new release albums. They often had full albums weeks before release date. This was at the height of the mtv trl era so lots of Eminem, dr Dre and nu metal stuff.
