Want to get the Pixel 3 after 10 years of iPhones

Verizon has $400 off the Pixel 3 for Black Friday, essentially making it $499. I tried both the Pixel 3 and the 3XL in store yesterday and prefer the size of the 3. I am really impressed with the phone and the pictures it takes. Only thing I didn't like was the Chrome browser. Safari looks much more polished. But I guess it a small price to pay.
Is it a good idea for someone that's been an iPhone user for this long to switch to Android for the first time ever? I'm planning to turn off iMessage on all my iOS devices before I saw the SIM cards, so hopefully I won't have issues with losing messages once I leave the iPhone behind. If I am going to switch, it might as well be with the Pixel right, so I get the purest form of the Android experience? Anyone want to argue against the switch? I'm just so bored of the same old iOS interface. I need a change.

I’ll argue against. I had an 2XL and recently switched to an IPhone XS Max.
Pixel 3 didn’t do it for me. Really what it comes down to is camera. If you want the best camera on a smartphone go Pixel. I kept my 2XL so when I tire of the iPhone I can switch back...but when I weighed The XS Max vs Pixel 3...I went apple.
