Two different Ipads picking up varying signal strength from same wifi extender

Basically my wife’s (no pics) ipad can stream tv, movie and music apps in the farthest room in our house and even outside on our deck. I have the same model Ipad (purchased at the same time) and mine will cut out and the bars for signal strength are lower. Even with the other device turned off. Any ideas what’s going on or a fix?

Do you have a dual band wifi modem? 2.4GHz has a larger range than 5GHz. So if you are connecting to different bands that might explain the difference

quote:I do but the extender is using an access point signal that was the strongest signal at that part of the house. We were wanting to get just enough to have a signal outside. It works for one but not the other.

Is there an app for your WiFi? Can you prioritize devices?
Could be the band too...

Does one have a battery saver or low power mode running?

No signal strength difference in any other location? Are you certain it's connecting to the extender? Is the SSID name the same throughout your network, as recommended? If so could you rename the extender SSID, so you know for certain which it is connecting to.
There's a list of things to try in this Lifewire page. Fix for poor Ipad WiFi signal

check your Bluetooth settings to make sure your iPad isn't using resources elsewhere. When your wife isn't looking swap iPads with her!!
