Time-lapse video creation.

I don't create that many of these but did a 600 snap time-lapse of the snowstorm a couple of weeks ago. I don't know if I'm just behind the times or what but I can't figure out for the life of me how to create a time-lapse. It seems gopro discontinued their free software and is now subscription based. Are there any open source or freeware programs out there? Thanks in advanve
