New video printing my Herome ducts and base.
When i watched the video i thought the oozing was going to be worse then it was. I dont have my retraction set up well for octolapse. Im very hesitant to install my herome because everything is printing well. I think im going to get everything printed i have in queue before i install everything.
Planned upgrades:
-Dual 5015 HeroMe with ABL
-Printermods Direct drive
-EZR struder
-Mounting RPi behind LCD and powered by printers power supply with buck converter
-Encose the sides of the Ender 5 as i have an AC vent that blows right near the printer. Will also look into doing something like Teaching Tech for the top if i want to experiment with ABS. I think closing off just the sides will be enough to prevent a cross breeze from the AC vent

This is pretty much were I'm at with upgrades right now. Everything work well and don't want to mess it up and wait until I get a good chunk of upgrades to minimize how many times I have to resetup the machine and cura settings.

im really itching to build a custom 3d printer. For what, double my printing capacity.....Why? idk just sounds fun.

Which ABL are you going with? I just got an EZABL PRO in for my Ender 3 but haven’t installed it just yet. I plan on getting octopi set up and upgrading the fans prior to trying out the new Hero Me 5.

Please let us know if you like this DD. I’ve been really thinking of pulling the trigger on it but I already have enough upgrades lying around waiting for install

I'm running the BLTouch. I have a glass bed and I read the light emmitter abls don't work with that.
I think by far the best setup is abl with octoprint. The screen shot I posted from the bed visualizer made tuning the bed as level as possible is great.
Now I have my extruder working properly I'm holding off on installing the herome5, EZR, and direct drive until I get downtime in printing all the useless stuff I want to print.

I sure hope the EZABL does, because I have a glass bed as well

I’m really looking forward to getting octoprint set up. I specifically bought it for the bed visualizer plug that works with the ABL.

So, I've had my PETG sitting out for almost a week since I have been printing with it pretty frequently. Started noticing print quality suffering and little popping noises during printing after around day 3. I looked into drying filament in the oven and people seem to get mixed results, plus my oven only goes down to 170F which means I may be able to get PETG to work, but PLA is definitely out and it's probably not a good idea since I eat food out of that oven.
Anyway, started seeing people recommend converting dehydrators. The $40 Westinghouse people were talking about and which had mods on Thingiverse to replace the trays appears to no longer be made/stocked. While searching for another similar model (adjustable temp, large enough diameter and height, price ~$50) I found this other one on Amazon for about the same price, dehydrator link. Sure enough, when looking at the reviews trying to determine the inner dimensions I saw a person had posted a picture with 2 spools in it and said it worked great! Went ahead and ordered one. Instead of trying to print a new 'ring' to replace the individual trays as people had done for the Westinghouse, I'm probably just going to cut out the trays as the guy did in his review. I love jerky, but I don't see myself taking it up as a hobby so I'm fine "ruining" the trays. Alternatively, you could make it so it only fits one spool by only cutting the bottom out of one tray. That would give you 3 trays you could still use for dehydrating food if that's your jam or you need to justify the purchase.

Finally got around to getting octopi set up on my Ender 3 Pro. Does anyone have any suggestions for plugins?
I already have the standard recommended ones installed (Octolapse, Spaghetti Detective, Bed Visualizer).

I installed most of what teachingtech recommends.
So I had a print finish today when everything normal. And tried to get my next print going and it seems my Z axis is backwards now. It won't z home. Bed just keeps going down. Nothing changed. So idk what's up.

Weird, first thing I'd check is all the wiring and electronics on the BLTouch. Second thing I'd check is google. Maybe something got messed up in the firmware? Did you try the old turn it off and turn it back on trick? See any errors running the probe in a terminal?

Yea I turned it all off then back on. I messed with it via control on octopi not the terminal same thing. Down is up and up is down.

You tube assembly video
EXACTLY!
The best thing to do is inform people. People are going to be people. lol
I bought an ender 3 and made this assembly video over the weekend. I have to admit that I was impressed. I was expecting to be let down. I've dealt with many Chinese kits. I gotta give these folks two thumbs up.

Reversed polarity on the z-stop pins? I know this is an issue some people encounter on initial install. However, if it was working fine and all of the sudden reversed I would think it is a software issue. maybe accidently checked a box or did something in octopi or your slicer settings?

I have done this before after installing an inductive Z probe. I had to correct this in the firmware by changing the Z home setting from true to false.
But I don't know the BL Touch so this may not be correlated.

I think I have found the issue....the probe is getting stuck and not retracting so the bed just goes down. I tried changing the true/false z home statement. Teaching tech said that this could go both ways for genuine bltouches.
I tried cleaning the probe and tried to remagnetize it but it just droops down and doesn't retract. So I'm thinking hardware failure.

Ah. Makes sense. I need to get a BL touch just to mess with it.

Does anyone have any experience with compiling Marlin firmware with VSCode and PlatformIO?
I’m trying to install the TH3D EZABL PRO on my Ender 3 Pro with BigTreeTech SKR Mini E3 V1.2 and I’m getting errors when trying to build the modified Marlin firmware in VSCode.
I’ve checked out a few YouTube videos and am still having issues.

Just a heads up there are a few colors left on Joann's website 15.99. just bought another 100 bucks worth of pla

My first attempt was with Marlin 2.X.X in VSCode since I work in it daily. I was getting errors as well. I ultimately decided to go with Marlin 1.9.x bug fix since my board isn't 32bit and that is what Marlin 2 is really for. Also, instead of troubleshooting the VSCode errors I used an Arduino Uno that I already had to flash the bootloader and then Arduino IDE to flash Marlin 1.9.x bug fix with no issues. Used teachingtech's vids as a guide. Pretty easy and straight forward.
ETA: since your board doesn't need a bootloader I would just try to compile Marlin in Arduino IDE and send it that way. I could be wrong, but I thought T3D offered precompiled Marlin distros?

They do offer precompiled firmware, but it seems to be only for their 32-bit board. I emailed them to see if they had a bin file for the BTT board and they didn’t.
I’ve searched all over and can’t figure out what the error is
