The S4 Series absolutely has HDR. I have one and it's great!

But is it a 10 bit panel ?

The specs read "High Dynamic Range Format - HDR10" so I guess so.

That just means it compatible. Doesn't mean it has the horsepower to do it justice.

Not all HDR TVs are created equal. Another way for tv company’s to not tell the whole truth and fool consumers
ETA: and that tv isn’t a 10 bit panel (doesn’t have wide color gamut) nor can it get bright enough to take advantage of hdr content. rtings.com is the go to for all tv specs

Let's think about this for a sec. Why would somebody put HDR on the box?
Here's the way I see it. They put fancy HDR on a box 'cause they want you to feel all warm and toasty inside
Ya figure you put that little box under your pillow at night, the HDR Fairy might come by and leave a quarter, am I right ?
How do you know the HDR fairy isn't a crazy glue sniffer? "Building model airplanes" says the little fairy; well, we're not buying it. He sneaks into your house once, that's all it takes. The next thing you know, there's money missing off the dresser, and your daughter's knocked up. I seen it a hundred times.
They know all they sold ya was HDR piece of shite. That's all it is, isn't it? Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it HDR, I will. I got spare time. But for now, for your daughter's sake, ya might wanna think about buying a quality product

Thanks for the rec on this website. It confirmed a lot of what I already thought about the tv. Especially their opinion that "After calibration, the TCL S405 is one of the most accurate TV we ever reviewed. At this level of accuracy, most imperfections are not even noticeable. Since the TV was already very accurate out of the box, the calibration was done in a breeze and no real issues came up during the process."
Sure, it's not rated the highest and doesn't have the best HDR output, but for the price, I am very happy with it and after all, that's all that matters.
