Spin off from the PS5 thread. I have a 5.1 system on a denon receiver. Can I get surround sound using the smart TV apps? I don't think that interface runs on an input. I seem to only get surround sound streaming through the PS5.

Two ways to do it.

HDMI ARC from the TV to the receiver or a digital audio output from the TV to the receiver.

Alternatively you can run HDMI inputs into the receiver and HDMI out to the TV for video. It’s quite simple unless I’m missing something here.

A common third way that is still on most modern equipment would be an optical audio/toslink from tv—>receiver.
ARC is superior (you can probably use the TV remote to control the receiver volume which I don’t believe is possible with toslink), but if you have even somewhat older/incompatible equipment, it probably has optical audio.
