Every tv in my house since 2006 has been a sony, and none have failed, most are xbr's.
I've definitely been disappointed with the picture quality between model numbers i.e. 2010 Walmart Bravia was vastly inferior to the 2007 xbr, but basic QA has never been an issue. With three failures, you might have an electrical problem.

The panel lottery continues.
I have a TCL that I got SUPER cheap for my gym. Panel is fine.
The Vizio P-series that some want to look down on? Fantastic picture.
I love(d) the Sony brand. 3 of my last 5 main displays were Sonys. But, I would go Samsung if I didn't think Vizio was up to snuff. And Samsung has a panel lottery, too.

Had other TVs plugged in this house, and even in that same outlet, over the last 25 years with no problem.
Only this Sony in the last year has been an issue,No other electrical issues in the home.
We'll see how the new one does.

Sounds like you just got a lemon tv.
