Smart Home Help (Airbnb properties)

I am looking to drastically cut my utilities and have a smart lock for my airbnb properties.
In your experience, what are the best smart thermostats? I am looking for something that will keep the temperature within a certain range when people are there and when people are not there it can sense that and move the temperature to a predefined number.
Smart locks, I don't know anything about them but something that has multiple backups if wifi goes out or battery goes dead.
Thoughts?

a hidden key somewhere.
smart locks & codes will still work if the internet/wifi is out once its programmed. you just lose the ability to remotely wipe/change the codes for the next guest.
your smartlock app will give you plenty of warning should the battery get low and if you're running a business you would probably want the housekeeping crew to replace them once a month just to keep them fresh. my lock batteries last about 6 months but its only a couple bucks for a pack of AAs so that's a cheap expense for peace of mind.
in the event the software got hung up and drained the battery you can keep a key hidden as a last resort and communicate that to your guests then move it to a new location after you've fixed the lock.
