Let's say a group of people want to put in earbuds and listen to music at the exact same time from their phones - not Bluetooth. I think I've seen people have silent concerts somehow?
How does one do this?

Step one: find four friends

Probably the easiest way would be to create a playlist on one of the streaming services and share it to all of the people participating.
You would then have to make sure they all started the playlist at the exact same time and that it wasn't on shuffle.

4-way headphone splitter
Or maybe something like a Presonus HP4 for individual volume controls. There are similar amps out there including a Behringer product under $40.
If you mean simultaneous listening on multiple devices, Apple SharePlay is supposed to be an option. I haven’t used it, but iPhones are fairly popular, and a lot of people may be able to use that option.

I believe Bose QC headphones allow wireless sharing. Both of you have to have them. Cool feature. Not sure if the Sony XM headphones have added that yet.
Looks like Bose QC 45s lost that feature. Pretty fricking lame of them.
Old Macrumors article for two headphones which may be useful
