I searched on google and said there was a thread on a here a couple months ago about someone having some potential issues from Swappa. but figured i would ask here.

So my phone bill is stupid high with ATT and we are looking to change services. Issue is (and part of why we have a high bill) is my wife and I each got a new phone this year (XS and a XS Max) We owe about 1900 between the two of them.

My thought was to pay them completely off so i own the phones then sell them on Swappa. I'm seeing on there right now people trying to by them that compare to ours for right at a 1,000 each.

Then we can take our old phones (7 and 7 plus) and take trade them in to Tmobile and get two lines of unlimited data and 2 phones (X or XR) for $110 a month.

I guess my question is selling them on Swappa for 1K seems high but i see they are going for that price. Is that legit? I don't want to pay off my phones and then not get the money i was expecting from them.

Same as the others who replied. I have sold our phones on there several times. I have bought a few things too.

Make sure you go through the process of getting ATT to unlock them after paying them off. I did what you are saying once, but the phone was automatically NOT unlocked. I had to request through the ATT website. I didn’t realize until the buyer complained that the phone wasn’t actually unlocked. As long as the phone is paid off, ATT will unlock. You get more $ for unlocked phones on swappa as you likely already know.

Make sure those phones are selling on swaps for 1k each and not just listed. I can list something for any price I want but doesn’t mean that’s what the market rate is and somebody will buy it

swappa is legit. paypal and its liberal policies to the buyer are the real issue.

use a phone for up to 90 days, on the 85th day --- make a false claim and you can guarantee that the buyer will get his money back.
