Satellite Internet Questions - International use

I am traveling outside of the US to an area with no cellular coverage and only access will be SAT phone. What are my options for accessing the internet to send and receive emails?

I understand the connection will be very slow but I will need to be able to access emails for the 10 days I am "off the grid". I came across a company called HughesNet but I am not sure this will work outside the US. Any insight from someone with experience on this would be greatly appreciated.
