I have an apple airport extreme and never had this problem before until recently.

Heres my wifi devices in my home:

360
PS4
netgear media box
Nexus 7
Hp laptop
wifes iphone 5
my iphone 5s

all my devices connect and stay connected to my router with no problem, except my 5s. It looses connection alot and even when im close to my router. Im starting to notice thats its been on my LTE network inside my home instead of my wifi.

any suggestions on how to correct this?

im not really worried about using my LTE data on my 5s b/c i have a grandfathered unlimited data plan...but still prefer to use my wifi on my 5s

Me and my gf have the same problem with my belkin router every few days. The only way the iPhone will connect is by unplugging the router. I've tried turning the phone off and on, turning wifi off and on etc. All other devices in the house never lose connection.

I'm thinking it's something in the iOS, maybe the last update bc it only started doing this recently.

Until you hit the 5 GB mark and they throttle you down making watching videos nearly impossible. Such crap.

Try opening settings, general, reset, then hit reset network settings on your iPhone. Maybe that will help

Or just get a replacement from Apple

I average about 7gb of data a month. They throttle me, but I really dont see much of a slower difference. the only slower difference I see is when im loading a page with animated gifs on it.

i stream pandora and youtube videos while driving most of the time when im in my vehicle

It's not a phone issue, it's an OS issue. New phone probably wouldn't help based on my experience.
