Question about Seagate Backup Plus Slim Portable Drive

I have a 1TB external hard drive that I keep put away, and occasionally plug in to update with any recent files.
Does anyone know the backup plan to select if you want to just update with the most recent files on the computer? It looks like it is primarily set up for you to keep plugged in and update continuously, but I'd rather not do that.
I had a different brand previously and it was much easier. I'd just plug in and it would back up by adding any new files since the last backup.

So my suggestion would be to quit using the crappy software bundled with the drives, and start using a proper cross platform backup solution. There are plenty of good ones out there - Acronis, Macrium, Crashplan, etc.
I use Veeam. Veeam Windows Agent is free, simple, and works. Can backup individual folders or entire disk images (incremental and full), can restore the same. Will encrypt the image if you want, run on whatever schedule you want, and can eject the backup drive upon completion.

While I appreciate your insight, I have absolutely no idea what you just said. I'm not tech savvy. I just want something to save any new music I've downloaded so I can eventually put it onto a new computer.

What are the different options you have to choose from? You want to find one that says incremental I'm guessing. That is the backup type that only adds things that have changed since the last full backup.

Sounds like he is not trying to back up the whole PC but just his data files.
OP if my statement above is correct, look at Microsoft Synctoy or Allway Sync.
Synctoy is really simple to use.
Or just use Microsoft One Drive.
