I know people use the Fire TV for Kodi. Can I do it with just a Fire Stick? Think I saw where people recommend using the TV because it's faster. But the deal of the Fire Stick for only $15 on Black Friday seems too good to pass up.
I really just want to make sure it's something I really want and not blow too much money on.
I use the Fire Stick and its awesome, so yes.
It's really organized too, with Genesis. You can go by Network, select a station (NBC, for example), then select a show that's on air currently. It takes about a day for a show to come up with a dependable stream, though.
The amount of content is amazing, really. I'm re-watching The X-Files right now.

Here's my setup:
roku 2
Roku 2
cable modem to replace my time warner rental modem
Cable modem
Belkin wifi router
Router
I have the setup next to my only TV. Currently getting 48 down/5 Up from the modem & wifi router.
I think it's enough.
I get everything I was watching with the old cable box that I'm paying $174.00/month with.
I plan to drop off my time warner cable box, modem and remote at the end of this month.
I also plan to get this.

I need a recommendation on a HD antenna. I would need it to run two TVs. I also live in a rural area. I live in Oakdale, I'm about halfway between Alexandria and Lake Charles. Thanks.

Okay, I have read through about 8 pages and I have been putting this off.
I need some help. I currently have an Xbone, a first gen Apple TV, and netflix. I am willing to get other things if need be. What steps do I need to take? I am looking at subscribing to Amazon Prime and maybe Sling? Sports, Food Network and some local tv are essential. Is there any way I can download certain episodes of shows or DVR them? We don't watch much live tv, so a similar way to DVR would be helpful. I probably sound dumb, but this is all new to me. I am trying to eliminate my $200.00 a month DirecTV bill.
I appreciate any help you can offer

Where do you see a $15 Fire Stick? All I see is Fire stick for $15 off both at BestBuy and Amazon.

I have an android TV and sling TV. The description says I get sec network but I don't see the LSU game. What's up?
Posted on 11/29/15 at 1:27 am to Casty McBoozer
Are you paying the extra $5 for SEC network?
Posted on 11/29/15 at 8:41 pm to lsuguy84
All you really need to add is A Hulu subscription. You can use Reddit streams for whatever game you want to watch.

I don't have SlingTV, but from my understanding the SEC network is part of the $5 add-on.

Not true. Some DVRs are made to work with digital antennas. See:

hey guys....new to the tech board and a fellow cord cutter.
heres what i'm working with:
roku streaming sticks
chromecasts
hulu
netflix
amazon prime
slingTV
Vudu disc to digital
Google play for new movie purchases
question: is there an advantage to purchasing the full blown roku boxes over the streaming sticks?

You can use an Ethernet cord to give it a more solid internet connection if your wifi is spotty
I'm sure it has more room to download things

Quick question that may have already been covered, but I didn't see it when browsing through the thread. What is the biggest advantage, if any, of get the Amazon Fire devices over using the Xbox One? Is it just more apps?
Posted on 12/21/15 at 11:36 am to DisplacedBuckeye
Probably, yes.
Can you install KODI on Xbox? I know it's originally the XBMC, but I'm not very familiar with it.

Last I checked, you couldn't install it. We already have Prime, Netflix, and Hulu Plus. I'd mostly be looking for something for sports and basic channels. I saw SlingTV mentioned as a pretty good option.
