Supposedly it'll be better. But I also don't want that huge phone.

I'm going to go on record as saying I will be slightly annoyed if Apple does this.

As far as I know, the only thing that "should" be better just from a size increase should be battery life due to a larger battery.

There is no technical reason that all the other features available in the larger phone wouldn't be in the smaller one. If the larger one is better, that tells me that Apple purposely handicapped the smaller one, which is a crappy thing to do for people who don't want larger phones.

The GM will be seeded tomorrow. The official roll out won't happen until next Tuesday.

I liked how last year with Mavericks, as soon as they announced it was free, it was live.

They should do that with iOS 8.

They haven't even started accepting app submissions that are compiled for iOS 8.

This is what I've never really understood. Isn't the GM the public release version, essentially? Does any further coding/tweaking/but fix work happen after that?

Don't be such a humorless tool. I am an Apple fan, and I thought it was a funny picture.

I'm talking about childish poo flinging like this picture above, not critical discussion.

If I were "flinging poo," it would be with a lot more velocity or a lot more subtlety than is embodied in that picture. There is not much "critical discussion" to be had at this point, just the usual exchange of speculation about rumors and observations, which the OP has done a good job of listing.

It's a big event, people are rightfully excited and the board should be able to enjoy talking about it without that kind of crap.

Lighten up. It is undeniable there is unprecedented "iHype" around the event tomorrow, and Apple needs to exceed expectations to keep AAPL from repeating the past. The people who are going to do it are the ones depicted in the cute picture. I don't believe Tim Cook is the kind of guy to put all this out there and not be able to back it up and then some. I don't think Eddy Cue was just shooting his mouth off in May. I hope I am right.

Essentially yes, it is the same. Most times it's the exact same build, but they have made some tweaks a few times which led to a different build being the public release. An added bonus to apples benefit is some of the people who would hammer the servers immediately at release already torrented it.

My bad. Thought it was the first bit of assholery which I'm hoping doesn't happen too much in this thread tomorrow.

I'm gonna be on the road and will be using this thread as my main play by play. Don't want a bunch of dickbags cluttering up the joint.

This...

Will find out tomorrow but can we also confirm that anyone on AT&T/Verizon will be dropping $600 or so, since I'm hearing the old days of a new 2-yr contract with a $200-300 phone are gone? Doesn't matter, just curious

Yeah, if the rumors of Optical Image Stabilization being 5.5 only are true, that'd be a pretty bad move IMO. Cameras are one of the bigger selling points of the phone, especially the iPhone, so if you want to stop switchers, the "flagship" phone should have the same camera features.

that sucks but for people who have an upgrade around the time of the release, they will still have to wait a couple weeks. When November 3rd rolls around for you, you won't have to wait.

it won't be that long of a wait....im hoping if they decide to release a larger model, that its ready by then

not sure I'll go with it, but I'd like to have the option to hold one and try it out

I think I'll I go with the smaller of the two models, I don't want something that doesn't really fit in my pocket.

Note: my next upgrade is september 1st 2015. So my next upgrade will be the iPhone 6s or 7, or 6x. who knows what
