Need recommendations for a new laptop

Need a new work laptop and I’m looking for help as I have not bought one in a very long time. My company uses Microsoft based applications so not Apple. Mainly will be using Microsoft office and teams, web based spreadsheets (DocuSign etc) and storing photos/documents so I’d like decent storage. Is $500 a reasonable budget? Can go up to 700-800 range if needed.

I understand in general avoiding Mac for certain applications but everything you just named is available on Mac. Teams, Office 365 Apps, etc.
The M1 Macbook air is one of the best values on the market right now at $899 at Best Buy. Base model with only 8GB of RAM is totally sufficient for office work.

How easy is it to add a second screen to a Mac? When I’m at home I use a second screen that connects via HDMI. I’m fine buying a docking station but I’ve never extended a screen on a Mac.

On the M1 MacBook Air you have to use either a display link dock or adapter it doesn’t natively support dual monitors. It does support using the laptop and then an extra display natively though.
But you can use the display link software and dock to have two displays. There’s some straight forward YouTube tutorials. Once you get it set up it’s good to go.
The new 14 inch and 16 inch pros natively support multiple displays but they’re not anywhere near that price range you gave.

Everything you described seems to have a browser interface option. Chromebook would be the least expensive with good performance. You can get a Windows laptop in that range if needed. MAC seems to be a poor fit for you.
