I have the 1GB plan through Cox, should be getting 1k down, 37up. I am running a Arris Surboard S33 DOCSIS 3.1 modem w a TP-Link WiFi 6 AC3000 router.

When directly connected, I get close to those speeds, between 800-950 down, depending what’s steaming, always over 35 up

In the room w the modem my wifi is running around 700 down, in my den I’m at 300-350, and in the master bedroom I’m anywhere from 80-150 (a lot of interior walls & doors between router & master)

Can I create a mesh system with my current system, or do I have to invest in new devices again? Current modem/router is ~18 months old

Before buying anything, do you really care if you only get 100Mbs in the other rooms?

Is your streaming having issues there? Unless you are downloading or transferring massive files 100Mbs is still plenty fast.

The main streaming channels we watch will have buffering in the master, but not the other rooms. Often have to turn wifi off on phone to get pages to load, laptops are slower than used to (spoiled w other speeds here). Even though the speed tests are showing 100ish, I know that’s not consistent and is more of a point in time

Just ran a Wi-Fi SweetSpots app and I was getting 2 mbps when sitting in the bed the first time, then 4.4 the 2nd time. I do get 5 on the throne

Yea that's too low.

Easiest is to add an AP in your or near your master. Make sure it's on a different channel from the current router.

Other thing could try, would be to add a better AP to the ceiling more to the middle of your home.

I've got this AP on the ceiling in my living room. It covers entire house (2000sqft) plus entire yard.

Do you know specifically which router you have? A lot of these newer ones can all work together as a mesh network.

I just replaced my Asus router with the TP-Link Deco AX3000 mesh system with 3 nodes. I have a networking closet that was separated from my master bedroom by the master bath, master closet, and kids bedroom. The 5hz band wouldn't reach my room, and the 2.5 band would pull 80mbps (400mbps package.)

I do have ethernet drops in all bedrooms, and pulled 2 cat 6 drops to an office/messroom that is out by my garage/shed. So I hardwired all nodes back to the main closet, so I have full access to both bands and now get full 400mbps wifi pretty much everywhere in my home and out on my patio. It's great.

I fully realized I could just get a stand-alone AP and put it out in the office/messroom, but I liked the idea of seamless hand-off between the nodes without me having to do too much config work.

If you can run a cable from your first router to closer to your lower speed rooms, it's pretty easy to set up an access point using an old or spare router.
