MacBook startup

I downloaded the new updated and when the apple screen comes up after the restart the upload bar goes about 20% of the way and it restarts once again. Any ideas on how to fix it or what could be wrong?

Just a guess but there may have been some error in the installation of the version of OSX. So try booting into recovery mode (command + R when you hear the startup tone) and reinstall the OS. Assuming this is the problem, there should be no risk to your stored data.
