It was different ideas people had for a new home like cat 6 to every room, outdoor receptacles for xmas lights, smart outlets inside etc.

Can someone link it?

LINK

This is the only one I could find but I know there was at least one more I remember reading.

My short list includes outlet/cable for TV on back patio.
-If there is NG, I would also drop a line for gas hookup on the back. (if no NG, look into a large propane tank, i wish i would have)
-Outlets for xmas lights in the front/side on walls & under the soffits. Also to make sure they are on a switch!
-Cat 6 wired throughout the house. I would also make sure cable is wired to a central point in the house to put the modem in an ideal place.
-Pre-wire for surround sound/outdoor speakers. I'd wire this also to a main area. Either an audio closet or built in cabinet.
-Install conduit running up in the wall where ever you plan to run all your equipment to. It will make it much easier in the future to swap out wires.
-I had an outdoor sink put in on the back patio and love it.
-You can never have too many outdoor fans during the summer.
-I'm a big fan of down lighting to highlight features of the house.
-If you will have built-in shelves in the living room, just put outlets on each level. It will get you bonus points with your wife later.
-Built in spice racks by the oven.
-Smart thermostat.
-Have a wired doorbell. Even if you don't put in a doorbell camera right away, it is easy to do later and you have better options when the doorbell is wired as opposed to the wireless ones with batteries.

You can always change out switches and outlets later for the smart stuff pretty easily.

thanks to both of you for the help. The one I'm looking for is over a year old and was several pages with posters listing things they did/wish they did.
