Locast will cease programming interruptions asking for donations after losing court battle

I use Locast. Got it after cancelling YouTubeTV. Got tired of the interruptions and so I paid them the $5 monthly donation.
They got sued by the big broadcasters over it, saying that since the program interruptions were stopped for those who paid a monthly "donation" that it was actually a fee. The courts agreed with the broadcasters, so now Locast is stopping all programming interruptions.
So if you want to freeload off the service, but hated the interruptions, you now don't have to worry about $5 a month going out to them.
Of course, this probably will mean the demise of Locast in the near future, just like the broadcasters intend to happen, as "donations" dry up.

Just got a mail that they are ceasing operations immediately. Was nice while it lasted. I use here in Brazil. Now off to find another source for locals. Probably YoutubeTV.

Just got an email saying they are suspending all operations. Oh well, cool while it lasted. I used to watch out of area games through it.

It does suck. I am trying through Youtube Tv but for local channels you need to verify location. VPN does not work for that. I am trying to get someone to login on their phone back home. Fingers crossed.

It does suck. All I want are the locals. Not all of YouTube. Although I would like ESPN during football season.

I was just having this problem from working offshore. Idk about thru the tv app, but I disabled location services to YouTube tv on my phone and now it’s working fine. It just defaults to my home location

Thanks. I’ll try that if it ask again. I had my cousin login and confirm so right now all is good. Hopefully it doesn’t ask for that very often.
