Life proof case…no one can hear me.

So I cut the bottom of the case out to expose the microphones.
This is temporary as I am getting a new life proof case.
With both mics exposed folks say I still sound like I’m in a tunnel. Take the phone out and they can hear me. Is there an additional mic at the earpiece too?

I have always thought lifeproof cases were HORRIBLE.
On my Iphone XR i had a minimal Otterbox. Now on my 12 Max Pro i have a leather apple case that i love. I have a 3 and 6 year old and my phone gets dropped and shite a ton. Still in perfect shape.
Sorry no real help with the sound issue other than buy a better/different case. Phones dont need what those cases do anymore.
