Lenovo Duet Chromebook as digital Calendar

So my wife has really been wanting a digital calendar like the skylight to display in our kitchen. Problem is, those things are pretty freaking expensive with basically no functionality. So I started thinking I could just use my old Lenovo Duet 3 Chromebook/ tablet, leave the screen always on, and display the calendar.
Also, since it has Google assistant built in, we could use it very similarly to a Nest Hub. The only thing I'm still having trouble with is figuring out a better speaker situation since the built in speakers suck
Anyone have any thoughts on this, or any other pitfalls I may be missing?
