My daughter wanted LED strip lights for her room earlier this year. The wife ordered some cheap ones off amazon. It was three strips that i connected together and ran throughout the molding of her room, roughly 75 feet. One power adapter with three strips. Problem is they don't all sync with the same color when she uses the remote. From what i have learned i probably hooked too many up together. Im also having trouble learning about these things. I want to order some new ones that work better or possible fix these. Can anyone recommend a good setup for her room? Nothing fancy, she just wants to be able to have different colors and maybe make custom colors as well. This remote for the ones she has now seems to be able to do that its just not working well right now. Also if this is not the best place to post this let me know.

Whats the voltage on the strips you have now, what power supply are you using (x volts and y amps), and how many LEDs/meter?

or just post a link to the amazon listing for the LEDs

That link does not go to a specific led strip; however, I am not too sure about those strips. Most of the RGB strips i have seen include a +, -, and RGB pins, so it is easy to inject power along the strip. These only have + and RGB pins.

I think you are right. If you have them in series, the power drop after 75 feet is too great. You can try running wires to inject power down the line.

How do you have 75 feet? Did you buy 2 of the 10 Meter sets?

im kinda estimating the feet. im gonna measure myself to know the exact distance. but from my recollection it was 3 that i connected together. its weird that the first two strips will present the right color but the third is different. if there wasn't sufficient power wouldn't the third strip just not turn on?

Voltage drop changes the color of the light towards the end of the strip/strand. I use mostly 5V, so its very important to inject power at multiple spots on the strips. 12V can handle a much longer strip before voltage drops, but 75 feet is loooooong. I suggest trying to inject power at the beginning or end of the 3rd strip. That's what I do on the strips around my TVs.

ok so it seems that its just not possible to run that long of a strip without a second power source correct?

you don't need a second power source, just a second line of power from the source to the LEDs at some point towards the second half of the strip

Those look like you would need to plug each strip into the controller, so yes as long as you put the controller in the middle and run them out from there.

Just FYI, there are better strips out there. These are only capable of one color for the whole strip at a time. There are others that allow for each led to be an individual color. Search for "addressable" LEDs in amazon. Price may be a little higher, but the lights and animations are so much better.
