I have an older ipod that, ironically, is still brand new in the package. Where the best place to get software that works still today?

What do you mean by software? You just add songs through itunes and listen.

Just connect it to your computer... Itunes will do the rest.

I have a 256 GB Ipod with and SSD that still works like a charm. Only thing it doesn't have is bluetooth.
