iPhone 13 - tap to wake issues?

I have the basic 13 model. Seem to mainly be having the issue if the phone is on charge and I haven't picked it up for a while.
For instance, if I wake up in the middle of the night and tap on my phone to check the time, nothing happens. Have to sometimes press the lock button to get it to light up.
Googled it and there are a few articles on it, so hopefully it will be addressed soon via update

I have the same issues on my 13 pro.
Do you have a screen protector on?

Yes, but it’s the same brand screen protector I’ve always used for previous phones. I’ve googled around and feel confident it isn’t the screen protector. Especially since I have no issues typing/scrolling/anything else
