Was going to get a new ipad and ditch my laptop - now see the scheduled Apple release - should I wait for the new one (pro) or just grab current model on sale?

the most recent iPad Air that was released in the fall is the best current value; has most of the features most people care about.

Wait. The event is on 4/20. You can decide then if a current model on sale is worth it over the new features.
Besides new processor , the pro is rumored to have thunderbolt usb c port. The potential here could be faster charging and more possibilities as far as what can be utilized by the port.
