Importing Outlook contacts into Gmail contacts

About once per month, I export my Outlook contacts to a CSV file and import it into my Gmail contacts - a manual sync - with no problems. I have a basic/free Gmail account. Today, I'm getting the following:
The "Import" button is not selectable after choosing the CSV file. File size: 2.5 MB. I also tried as CSV-MS DOS file. No joy.
Would anyone have a workaround? Thanks in advance...
