How do I sync my MacBook with a dumb plasma TV?

I was able to do it on an old Mac G5 PC, but I can't figure out how to do it with my MacBook (2021-ish). I've bought the adapter on Amazon that was supposed to work, but I still can't figure it out.

M-1 2020. Not sure about the adapter.
The problem was getting the HDMI cable from the TV to adapt to the piece that connected to my Macbook that supposedly would work.

If you got the right adapter ( this one works for my M1 Mini to my 2008 Samsung plasma), there may be a compatibility issue with the HDMI cable.
Could be a lot of things though.
