I've got 7 Cat6 Ethernet and 7 coaxial cables terminating in one spot high on a wall in a utility room downstairs. The cables run in pairs to a different room in the house, where there is a jack for one Ethernet and one coaxial cable. My main goal is to get the wired internet live in each room. Any recommendations from the board on whether I should terminate each end with a plug, or use a patch panel? Beyond that, advice on hardware such as switches, to support broadcasting the signal across the rooms?

At some point, I'll work on the cosmetics, such as replacing the metal casing with a shelf. It's just what I have to work with at this point.

//I am more of a novice than anything with networking. We've got a number of streaming devices, laptops and IoT devices for smart home automation. I'll work on improving the wireless connectivity, but getting wired connections across the house is priority for now.

I opted for double keystone jacks for my coaxial and cat6 needs behind each tv location.

A cleaner install imo. Plus, terminating cat 6 to the keystone was much easier than a plug.

ETA I just ran the cable out of the wall to my server closet. I have a server rack and need to access the rear and pull it away from the wall.

I also use the the Ubiquiti POE wireless access points placed strategically throughout the house for my wireless needs.

My house was built using a radiant barrier on the roof deck and that plays havoc with wireless signals in my house.

Ubiquiti

I'm looking at Ubiquiti for my wireless mesh. Haven't made it that far yet. My current ASUS router is keeping the show going on that end. As it stands, how the house is hard-wired in the OP is what I have to work with.
