I remember that for a while this was being discussed as a feature...But the last three Android devices I have looked at (Samsung A8 with v.7, Sony Xperia wi th v. 8, LG G6 and G7 with v.8) only seem to allow formatting an SD Card As external/portable storage that you can save files on, but not install apps to.

A lot of devices are dropping the SD slot altogether to make it easier to waterproof.

With phones routinely coming with 64gb and so much on the cloud, now - it seems like a lower and lower priority every year for a phone's internal storage to be expandable.

Android hasn’t gotten rid of the feature but a lot of manufacturers disable it in their version of Android. I would stick with Pixels or One Plus. If you don’t want either of those could probably enable it if you can root your phone.

No. Samsung S9 has a MicroSD slot (up to 512GB)

He’s not talking about phones not having an sd card. He’s talking about manufacturers disabling adoptable storage which lets you combine your internal storage and sd card into one larger internal storage.

Thanks.. Just picked up a ZTE axon M and dropped a 400gb card in it and formatted it as internal storage.

Interesting device, had a front and back screen that you can fold out to use as a mini tablet.

... At which point I also turned on developer mode, installed adb, and then used adb shell to uninstall most Google apps, ATT bloatware, and carrierIQ.
