Researching laptops for my daughter (no pics).
Hoping to find a deal between now and Black Friday.
Want to find one that won’t be obsolete or need to be upgraded next month.
Main two programs she’s using are SolidWorks and Matlab. Grad school - biomedical engineering.
I’ve been looking mostly at gaming laptops for the higher end graphics card but not sure if that’s necessary. Would prefer a lighter laptop but performance is the priority. Came across an article that said a high end gaming system isn’t necessary.
Want to get thoughts from Tech Board.
Would a card like Iris Xe be sufficient to run the programs above? Or for something like AutoCad?

1. A laptop fit for engineering will NOT be a black Friday deal.
2. The engineering school should have sent out a spec sheet for what she needs - amount of ram, speed of processor.
Don't buy anything until she has the requirements.

Thanks. They did provide minimum requirements, just hoping to get something that will future proof for awhile.

Lenovo Thinkpad is what we use for most of our Software engineering.
We also use HP Elitebook 840.
They usually are not on sale
