Have had it for almost a year now. Calls/texts are fine but the data service is hit or miss. Most of the time im connected to wifi so its not a big deal .Its only 20/ month per line for unlimited plan through a suddenlink promo. Purchased phones through altice and im curious if anyone knows if their phones can be used with another carrier if I decide to switch in the future. Thanks in advance.

IIRC, they strictly use the Sprint network. Sprint was already awful to begin with and has recently had some of their LTE spectrum reallocated to T-Mobile.
I'm sure Altice will soon be moving their users to T-Mobile. If they already did, then I suggest moving to an AT&T or Verizon MVNO. As far as the phones, what phones so you have? Altice should unlock them once they're paid off. iPhones should be universal across all carriers. Samsung has been universal since the S8 IIRC. Other phones are hit or miss when it comes to VoLTE support.

I have the s10+ and Mrs jkyle has the iPhone 11. Love the phones. Just the internet is a bit slow when I'm using cell data. Thats really the only issue I have with them. Debating whether to switch bc 40 bucks for 2 lines is damn hard to beat.

Phones should work fine in just about any network.
$40 bucks is hard to beat. Do you know if you're still using the Sprint network or have you been switched to the T-Mobile network? Apps like Signal Check on Android will tell you which carrier and band you're using. If it's 26 or 25, then you're on Sprint. If it's 2, 4, 12, 66, or 71, you're on T-Mobile. Both use band 41, but that band is hardly congested. There's no way you're on it.

Looks like you've been switched to T-Mobile. B71 is their coverage band, so right off the bat I wouldn't expect great speeds. Chances are it's only 5x5 in your area and the rest has gone to 5G (at least that is what is happening in Austin). AWS/PCS are probably too weak and congested for carrier aggregation to help. I doubt getting a 5G phone will help either.
On the bright side, T-Mobile is aggressively deploying B41/n41. So some people will soon be relocated to those bands and the AWS/PCS bands will be freed up. It will definitely help your tower deal with congestion.
If I were you, I'd wait it out. T-Mobile is the carrier that is best positioned for 5G at the moment. They have 120+ MHz of midband spectrum in most markets. In Houston, I think they own the entire 190 MHz block of the BRS and EBS band. T-Mobile is going to have a ridiculous 5G network in a few years.

We've had suddenlink for 10 years and love it.
But this past month, our internet goes down 4-5 times a week for 2-3 hours at a time.

I love the suddenlink internet. I have 400mb unlimited plan. (58 a month taxes n all ) and have very few issues with it. We also have at&t fiber 1gb unlimited for 60/mo. Its super reliable but is actually not as fast as suddenlink according to the ookla speed tests i run pretty frequently
Decided to get multiple networks once we cut the cable. Wife really likes the at&t for controlling the kids down time and being able to boot them from their games with the click of a button
