Currently, or was, using the the tv app for all my sports but today it says I need to buy nordvpn. I don't really mind the price but it seems sketchy.

VPN wouldn’t hurt, worst thing is you could get a nasty letter from your ISP on a not so legitimate service.

Edit - doesn’t mean you have to use Nord. Several out there, sounds like your being hit with an advertisement.

Proton VPN for the win.

They also have secure email, calendar storage, password manager etc. Offshoot of some work done at CERN and based in Switzerland.

Just don't forget the recovery words. Print them out and put them in a safe space if you use the other apps.

They're getting kickbacks for directing you to NordVPN. ProtonVPN, VPN Unlimited, Express VPN, etc., are all options. I don't think you in particular are going to care if something supports Wireguard, OpenVPN, or anything else. Check a couple of them to see how many servers they have near you, you may have to change US timezones to avoid heavy loads at certain times of day.
