After seeing the internet speeds doubling, I'm thinking of possibly switching to cox for everything.

Looked at their site and saw you have an option to get more than 1 contour box (and they cost the same as regular HD boxes to rent). Does this mean you can have more than dvr and record more than 6 shows at a time, or can you only have 1 per house? How would that work?

If AT&T doesn't offer me a discount on my service, I might jump ship.

I'm not sure I quite follow, but you need is one main Contour Record 6 HD-DVR Receiver $8.50/mo and then however many Contour HD-DVR Receivers you'd like.

Either way I highly recommend switching to take advantage of all their 2 year promotions. Make sure you get the absolute best deal. Cox iternet is absolutely incredible. I am highly pleased. Also another thing is sometimes it's actually cheaper to bundle the 3 services even if you don't care for a house phone at all. It makes no sense, but it is absolutely true.

When I went through the setup to order, it gives you an option to add 3 DVR's. Does that mean you can record up to 18 shows?

Also, is it record 6 HD channels at once, or record 4 HD and 2 SD?

I suppose so, but more practical to just get the receivers to go with 1 whole home dvr.

I see the price per renting the boxes is equal between the two types, however to get 3 whole home dvrs then it looks like the DVR service in itself will be much more expensive. Do you kind of understand.. but yes I would believe if you had 3 of the whole home dvrs then yes you could record 3 x 6 shows at once equaling 18 at once.. but wow that is some serious recording..

It's 6 HD if you like.

It does not matter between HD or SD

thanks!

AT&T says you can record 4, but only 3 at the same time in HD.

Dish and the Hopper let's you record 6 shows in HD, but 4 of those can only be from the major networks, (CBS, ABC, NBC and Fox)

6 HD at once, main reason I stayed away from Uverse.

One last question, before I make the switch over.

Do you need coaxial cables run to each box, or can you use an ethernet cable?
