My son is in 5th grade and they use chromebooks regularly at school. I am thinking about getting him one so he doesn't have to use our old home laptop. Anyone bought one for school use recently? Or am I just better off buying a new laptop with Windows.....No Im not getting a Mac.

This one was $189 this weekend. I didn’t do a whole lot of research but took a shot at that price. Seems fast and has similar specs to a ton of the other options. It’s for our 5th grader.

Does it have to be a Chromebook? Can it be an Android tablet? The Samsung Tab S7 is great and about to get a price reduction.

The Windows Surfaces are good products too. Guess it just depends on what your kiddo is doing with it in terms of writing papers with Word or doing Excel docs, etc.

Chromebook for sure. You can still use office 365 on the web and I would assume most anything a school age student will do is web-based. No need for an operating system that will slow with every passing month. Save the bucks.

I bought a pixelbook go last year for $650ish and it has been outstanding!!! Battery life is incredible. Best device I have purchased in years. I'm always working on the road and that pixelbook does everything I could ask
